A Two Variant Thermomechanical Model for Shape Memory Alloys

چکیده

Shape Memory Alloys (SMAs) undergo stress and temperature induced reversible diffusionless crystalline phase transformations between a high synmaetry phase (austenite) stable at high tenlperatures and low stresses, and a low symmetry phase (martensite) stable at low temperatures and high stresses. Unusual macroscopic effects arise from these crystallographic changes, chiefly shape memory and superelastic effects. Superelastic effect is the recovery, caused by stress induced formation of prefered variants of martensite, of large deformations in loading unloading cycles. Shape memory effect is realized when such stress induced transformations are thermally reversed.

TRANSFORMATION BEHAVIOR OF NiTi SHAPE MEMORY ALLOYS TREATED BY THERMOMECHANICAL PROCESSING USING DSC

Abstract: In the present study the effect of thermomechanical treatment (cold work and annealing) on the transformation behavior of NiTi shape memory alloys was studied. Differential scanning calorimetry was used to determine transformation temperature and its relation to precipitates and defects. Three alloys including Ti-50.3at.% Ni, Ti-50.5at.% Ni (reclamated orthodontic wires) and 50.6at...

Existence, uniqueness and regularity of solutions for a thermomechanical model of shape memory alloys

This paper considers a thermomechanical model describing the behavior of shape memory alloys (SMA). This new model (see [3]) takes into account the nonisothermal character of the phase transformations, as well as the existence of the intrinsic dissipation. For the governing equations we prove existence, uniqueness and regularity in certain well chosen functions spaces. MSC: 74N30, 74H20, 74H25.

Dynamics of Shape - Memory - Alloys : Areduction Procedure for 3 D

Starting from a general Landau-type 3D model for the shape memory alloy dynamics we have developed a new mathematical \slow manifold" model that allows us to describe eeectively the main features of the thermomechanical behaviour of CuAlNi alloys. A robust numerical procedure, developed in our earlier papers for the Falk model, has been generalised to this case. Results of the mathematical mode...

Adaptive Tunable Vibration Absorber using Shape Memory Alloy

This study presents a new approach to control the nonlinear dynamics of an adaptive absorber using shape memory alloy (SMA) element. Shape memory alloys are classified as smart materials that can remember their original shape after deformation. Stress and temperature-induced phase transformations are two typical behaviors of shape memory alloys. Changing the stiffness associated with phase tran...
